The next day I set up a meeting at the district headquarters with the assistant superintendent. She had a police officer in the meeting. Again I was freaked out. I told them what they did and why it was wrong. The cop said they acted just right as that is what they are trained to do if someone has PTSD. Basically I was arrested because of my illness. The DA tried to stretch out the court appearances. They wanted me to plead it out but this time I was prepared to take it to trial. The whole case was eventually dismissed with prejudice and records were sealed.
I was in my bed trying to go back to sleep after recently waking up to use the bathroom. Then the next thing I know- there is this red-and-blue light flashing into my room. So I get up and slightly peek out the window. My brother’s car is in the driveway after coming back- and a police car is behind it with the siren flashing. So then I go out in the living room- and see that the red-and-blue light is flashing throughout the house. Since this was the middle of the night- every light in the house was turned off. My parents were in their room both asleep- so they had ‘no idea’ what was going on outside in their driveway.
I then went back in my room- and peeked out the window again. The cop was out of his patrol car and asking my brother questions. It sounded like he was accusing him of something. That would NOT have been good for him- because he got arrested back when he was a teenager for writing ‘death threats’ all over restroom walls at our high school. After that cop had been harassing him for what seemed like 15 minutes- he got back in his patrol car and finally took off. Then my brother drove his car into the garage- and I went out to ask him about what just happened. This is where I actually got the details to why that cop was out there.
He said that when he entered into the neighborhood- that cop was in his patrol car looking out for certain cars to come by. Then when he saw him coming by- he started following after him. So my brother said that he was very careful NOT to do anything suspicious- and had gotten the garage up right when that cop started flashing his siren. If my brother had actually made it into the garage- then the cop could NOT have been allowed to mess with him. So he started accusing my brother of being in possession of drugs- and demanded that he open up his trunk. My brother told him that he would only do that if the cop had a warrant authorizing him to.
Now my brother had done some drugs with friends he had in college- but he graduated in 2005 and had NOT been around any of them in years. That cop said that he needed to see for himself if there were any drugs in his vehicle or NOT- so my brother finally opened up his trunk just to attempt getting rid of the guy. After the cop saw there was NOTHING in the trunk except tools that our dad provided my brother with- he finally told him that he was going and sorry that he bothered him. We were both 30-years-old at the time- and yet we looked young enough to pass for kids going to college. My brother also likes dressing up like a thug- which did NOT really help in that case.
The ramifications were and are still severe. We had pulled my daughter out of that school at the time and put her in a charter school. Her anxiety continued to worsen. We tried to put her back into that school last year. She had panic attacks daily. I had migraines almost daily. The migraines got so bad I was hospitalized in the ICU for two days, and regular room for another day. The police in my town are completely out of control. I was falsely accused of assaulting a police officer and not only thrown around like a rag doll but also humiliated.
